Meet Kermit
A Foundation of Family and Hard Work
For Kermit Thomas, the Quad Cities is more than just home; it’s where his lifelong commitment to service meets his dedication to family. His journey began with a calling to serve our country in the 82nd Airborne Division, where he learned the true meaning of grit. Kermit has since transitioned that mission to Moline, where he has spent years raising his three children as a single father and advocating for the neighbors he is proud to call family.
A Career Defined by Service
Kermit’s commitment to our country led him to Prairie View A&M University where he graduated as a distinguished ROTC military graduate with a degree in Business Marketing. For twenty-seven years, Kermit served as an Army Logistics Officer, a role that required precision, integrity, and the ability to solve complex problems under pressure.
In 2016, Kermit retired as a field grade officer at the Rock Island Arsenal. Since then, he has brought his expertise to the private sector at John Deere, contributed to our schools as a local substitute teacher, and pursued the American Dream as an entrepreneur and owner of Timrek3 Productions.
A Faith, Community, and Leadership
For Kermit, leadership isn’t just a title—it’s an action. Whether he is preaching at the Central Church of Christ in Davenport or serving as the First Vice President of the Rock Island County NAACP, Kermit is a constant presence in the lives of his neighbors.
His dedication to the Quad Cities is reflected in his diverse involvement:
- The Divine Nine: A charter member of the National Pan-Hellenic Council Quad Cities (Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.).
- The Arts: Former board member of PlayCrafters theater, currently contributing to their production of A Soldier’s Play.
- Mentorship: Sponsor of the Boys Youth Forum, helping young minority men prioritize education and well-being.
A New Mission for the 71st District
After nearly three decades serving our nation in uniform, Kermit is ready to serve the hardworking people of Western Illinois. He is running for State Representative to be a champion for:
- Youth & Education: Ensuring the next generation has the mentorship and resources they need to thrive.
- Mental Health & Wellness: Expanding access and removing the stigma surrounding mental healthcare.
- Advocacy for the Vulnerable: Continuing his long-standing volunteer work with the homeless community.
Kermit Thomas has spent his life answering the call of duty. Now, he’s ready to work for you.
